When Questions Arise At The Property

I will have to admit that I am pretty impressed with the communications of one of the companies we work for. I really am – I’m not being facetious. Why am I impressed. Well, every time I go to their web site to upload results for a property preservation job, I am presented with a random copy of previous memos sent out to all field reps. I think it’s a wonderful way of getting a little education and company procedures passed on to the reps.
But you know me, there’s more to the story. Even though I feel this company’s communications with their field reps is superb, I can only say that for the communications going out – it seems nothing gets in.

Today is day 21 that my contact at the company has not called me back. What got me thinking about this company communications thing is the memo I read today when I signed on. My sides still hurt.

“When questions arise at the property, contact your coordinator immediately”. Well, I did – twenty one days ago. No kidding though. Even with this one sided communications system, this company is still head and shoulders above the rest.

Did I ever tell you about calling our rep at another company day after day for months? We got a call from a supervisor one day asking if we could do some work out of area. When we asked about our rep, we were told he had been gone for over a month.

I don’t think I can single out any one company. One company still sends e-mail to our old account that we check about once a month. We’ve asked them a million times to change their records. Another company continues to call an old disconnected number and then sends e-mail to the old e-mail address wanting to know what our problem is.

Then there’s our office. It seems messages get in but not out. I forget to ask for my messages and they forget to tell me I have messages. So I’m guilty too. I’ll be calling a bunch of you tomorrow – I got all the messages for the week.
