The Autobiography of Sol Bloom

I may never have mentioned the sense of accomplishment and the thought of doing some good in society that this business does bring on occasion. When I tell you about my bad days, you might want to think back to this discussion because today was a good day.

We are again busy, busy, busy. So busy, in fact that I only had time to stop at two thrift stores. I picked up a book, “The Autobiography of Sol Bloom” for one dollar, two framed Jim Daly prints, one dollar each, and three Alabama Football Championship 1992 colas at one dollar each. If all goes as I anticipate, these items could add close to one hundred dollars to the day’s income. OK, back to my day.

As I was saying, we are busy. We have to schedule tightly, get out early and be willing to work until it is done. I started the day with two insurance loss inspections. Both of these homeowners have become almost like friends. We have been inspecting their progress since hurricane Katrina – almost two years. They both had their final inspections today. I was happy for them and I felt good about the small part I played in it all.

Then it was on to the regularly scheduled routine – this time with fifty-seven occupancy inspections, almost all requiring pictures and two interior inspections. All of this was capped off with a commercial inspection appointment at 4:30pm. Whew!

I’ve got to leave early tonight too! I have ninety three pictures to label, categorize and upload.
