Field Services: Scam or Legitimate Opportunity ?

The Audit

Well, hold on to your hat.  I actually have a couple of attaboys to talk about.  Funny thing – attaboy is in the dictionary; attagirl is not!  Anyway, here goes.

There is a small nationwide company that we have done work for for many years.  The amount of work we get from them has not ever even warranted a place in accounts receivable.  We received two checks from them today.  The first check gave the address of the property and the date we serviced it:  7/14/05.  The second check gave the address and the dates of service on that property:  4/20/06 and 11/3/05.

Did they get audited?  Dunno!  It’s just nice to know that there are honest companies out there.  Guess I should have had them in the accounting system after all.

The second attaboy is for a rather large national company that wants us to work a very small area for them.  The numbers never sounded exciting so we’ve taken our time getting everything back to them.  Now here’s the good stuff:  They included a fee schedule and a contract written in English.  Our attorney was surprised.  This is the same attorney that looked at a contract sent to us a while back and told us that slavery had been abolished in the 1800′s.  That was his subtle way of telling us not to sign that sucker.

OK, got work to do.  See ya.
