Massachusetts Inspectors Earn $240 to $300 per day

My day was exactly as I thought it would be. I had one merchant verification (1•35), and two occupancy inspections (2•6.50). I was gone about two hours tops. The rest of the day I cleaned up the new version of the manual and verified some company info. While checking the web links listed in the manual, I ran across something you should check out if you are in or close to Massachusetts:
Pro-Teck has been contracted by one of Massachusetts largest residential home insurers to re-inspect their entire book of business, tens of thousands of properties. This is a great opportunity for inspectors, real estate brokers, appraisers (including trainees) and others with real estate / insurance background to earn good money with full and part time opportunities. The inspections are interior, but Pro-Teck books the appointments for you.
I also found another interesting tidbit at a real estate appraisal web site. It appears this appraisal company has what is called a Standard Desk Review. This Standard Desk Review may be common in the appraisal business. I really don’t know.
The interesting part about the Standard Desk Review is the explanation: “Our team of expert professionals is able to perform a property value assessment based on the subject’s characteristics, public record data, and our exclusive historical database without requiring an onsite inspection.”
The bold words are mine – I wanted to make sure you saw it.
Then, just to make sure it is clear, they repeat it later, “Subject property and comparables are not inspected“.
Wow! That is absolutely the coolest thing – a little over a hundred bucks and never leave the office.
Of course, I know a team of one expert professional right here in the mortgage field services business. She can perform a property inspection without requiring an onsite inspection too. She can even do insurance loss inspections from home.
So, there. Don’t run off and try to get your real estate license just so you can do inspections from the safety of your own home. Let me tell you how Vickie and I met this expert insurance loss inspector.
It’s been two or three years back, but one day Vickie called to make an appointment with a homeowner. Our assignment was to look for 100% completion. We had never been to the property before – we keep good records – so we figured another inspector in town had done the previous inspections.
When Vickie called, the homeowner asked for our e-mail address and our fax number. Confused by the request, Vickie asked the lady why she needed the e-mail address and fax number. “Well, I’ve already taken the pictures and my son is going to e-mail them to you. And, if its O.K. with you, I can fax you the forms from work tomorrow”.
Wheels turning! ….. What in the heck is this lady saying?
Well, it turns out that our local insurance loss inspection expert always called the homeowners and asked about the damages and repairs. She then told the homeowner what pictures to take and what e-mail address to send them to. If they did not have a digital camera, they were instructed to borrow one or buy one. She made it real easy for the homeowner to sign the form; she could fax them to where the homeowner worked or to the closest office supply place.
Wow! That is absolutely the coolest thing – twenty-five to thirty-five bucks and never leave the house.
I really can’t blame the company she was working for. The inspector was probably working real cheap and the company was saving a lot of money on inspector fees.
This expert called us a couple of months later looking for inspection work. She would be willing to meet us somewhere if she could get a ride. She hasn’t owned a car in over a year.

Hey Terry-We haven’t talked in a while. This Pro-Teck thing is exactly what I’m looking for!I think this one will not work because of it being interiors and appointments. The $240 a day would be pretty low with hotel exspenses, etc.Anyway I’m curious if you have a bot out there searching for reinspections?I’d love one like this that was exterior only and I know they are out there for this winter.I just got back from a week of cruising rural Mississippi and Alabama, pretty and I even managed to end up in Destin on Sunday.I did @80.@$35 for the week.I had my oil changed the day I left and got home about 500 miles overdue!Hopefully the Texas Gulf is next on my list-TTYL
