Field Services: Scam or Legitimate Opportunity ?

Finishing The Route

Posted on | January 30, 2006 | No Comments

After uploading pictures from 5am to 8am, I was able to leave the house about 9am. You probably are aware that some companies say they do not pay for pictures. Well, that works well with my method of operation because I don’t charge for taking pictures.

I only charge if the company wants me to send the pictures to them. Neat, huh? So nice that we can work together, hand-in-hand so to speak.

Well, my task for today is to find the thirteen addresses that I was not able to finish yesterday. The highest priority address still has me confused. I found it almost immediately and confirmed the occupancy with a neighbor. The problem with this inspection is due to a simple change of house numbers. Why did the last inspector have difficulty finding it ?

. See the picture of the mailbox. The mail carrier crossed out the old 5716 and the homeowner put 5748 on the box. We were looking for 5716.

The second inspection was quite ordinary. The were no problems or surprises. I am concerned with a couple of hazards that have not been addressed, a hole next to the sidewalk about 2x3x2. Looks like the previous occupant took their pond with them.

And, uncovered electrical wires. They’re not hot now but as soon as the power is on, wow! .

By the way, I thought I would start inserting a few pictures in the blog since this site is focused on training for field inspectors. Maybe all you new folks will enjoy the pics and learn a little from them.

I found all the properties and took 54 pictures. All of which will have to be uploaded tonight. Don’t let anyone tell you that pictures should be free. Wait a minute. I guess they could be free if the receipent paid for the equipment and labor!

Some days are better than others.
13 inspections x 7.50 = 97.50
gasoline -25.00
72.50

3 hours in the field and one hour of upload and one half hour of preparation equals 4.5 hours. Sixteen dollars per hour.
