Field Services: Scam or Legitimate Opportunity ?

Aught, Aught and Double Aught

Yea, I think too much and a lot of the time it’s about something really wierd like the future of the field service business or why don’t UFO’s have more chrome and tail fins.  And, it’s really crazy what can set off these mind warps.

Last week I served as chauffeur for some out of town guests and drove them to one of the casinos in Mississippi.   By the way, when I crossed the Mississippi / Louisiana state line, I figured I had missed my turn.  Louisiana is a nice place too.

I don’t know enough about gambling to take a chance on hardly anything so when I visit a casino in Mississippi, I spend a lot of time watching the table games so I can learn more about them.  This time I spent quite a bit of time watching people play Blackjack.  Then I watched the craps table and did not understand any of it.  I guess the only time I had really noticed a roulette wheel before was on a Gunsmoke rerun, so I settled down close to a roulette table and watched.

Then I experienced another mind warp!  The more I watched the roulette table and the players, the more I thought that the roulette game was almost the same game as mortgage field services.  I decided to do a little research on Roulette later so I could do a comparison.

A lot of times, I will research before I write.  I think having a few facts is good.  In fact, it’s always better than guesses but about on par with gut instinct or hunches. I wanted to impress you so this is what I found about Roulette on the internet

Roulette is one of the easiest games to play and understand in the casino. As usual the easier a game is to understand the greater the house edge, and roulette is no exception. If you are looking for a easy to understand and slow paced table game, and are willing to sacrifice on the house edge, then you may like roulette. If you want something more stimulating or with a decent return I would suggest looking at other games.

OK.  That’s pretty straight forward.  Now, let’s replace “roulette” with “mortgage field services” and let’s replace “casino with “field services business” and see what we get:

Mortgage field services is one of the easiest games to play and understand in the field services business. As usual the easier a game is to understand the greater the house edge, and mortgage field services is no exception. If you are looking for a easy to understand and slow paced table game, and are willing to sacrifice on the house edge, then you may like mortgage field services. If you want something more stimulating or with a decent return I would suggest looking at other games.

Wow!  I couldn’t have said it better myself.  Now, what’s this house edge stuff? It’s an awful lot like “The Golden Rule”, you know, “The one with the gold, sets the rules”, but we can get into that later.

Here is what the Encyclopedia Britanica says under the subject of roulette:

The oldest and most common betting system is the Martingale or “doubling-up” system, in which bets are doubled progressively. This probably dates back to the invention of the Roulette wheel, but every day of the week some gambler somewhere reinvents it, or some variation of it, and believes he has something new. Over the years hundreds of “sure-fire” winning systems have been dreamed up, but regardless of what system is used, in the long run it cannot overcome the house’s advantage of the 0, or 0 and 00. This house advantage is the only system that consistently wins in the long run.

I’m going to let you do the word swaps this time.  Here’s a hint: Every new person coming into this business trys to reinvent the betting system but …

“this house advantage is the only system that consistently wins in the long run.”

Next week:  self defense.

“No one can possibly win at rolette unless he steals money from the table while the croupier isn’t looking.” — Albert Einstein
