The Perfect Home Based Business

It is going to be extremely hard to tell you about my day without you getting jealous. Sorry about that, but I know its going to happen.
I had a wonderful day! Monetarily the day was not that great (7.50 • 28) but not terrible either.
I wish I had not accidentily wiped all my old posts so you could refer back and see that I always enjoy working the rural southern end of Mobile County. Its not as rural as it used to be, but it still took me six hours to do 28 inspections. In town, twenty-eight inspections can often be done in an hour or less. Today I covered Irvington AL, Grand Bay AL, Dauphin Island AL, Theodore AL, and Coden AL. All of these places are on or near the Gulf of Mexico and most of the activities are related to the Gulf of Mexico - tourist and residents alike are usually involved in something having to do with the gulf.
So why did I have such a great day? Well, number one, I love just about anything associated with water so the bayous, bays and the gulf made me just plain happy all day! Maybe I’m just easy to please. Second, I really enjoy meeting and talking to people and today was full of contact. I actually caught some residents at home but the most enjoyable interaction I had was on my cell phone while driving around.
We are winding up the month and that always involves making sure we have completed all assignments and have returned the results – and there is always, and I mean always, inspections marked “RUSH RUSH RUSH“ across the top and post-sale inspections.
Everyone is trying to get the month tidied up. Vickie really knows the ropes. She has over twenty years in the insurance business and she says that “at the end of the month everyone is trying to get the stuff off of their desk onto the top of your desk”. I think she’s right. I’ve seen the same jobs move between her desk and their desks for weeks!
OK. Here we finally go with what I enjoyed doing most of the day; talking to people. I have been so busy this month that my phone calls and e-mails have been piling up. I hate to put off replying to the calls and e-mails but there are times that I just know I cannot slow my head down enough to talk intelligently so I just don’t call or email back!
Today I carried all the little “phone message” slips with me and printed out my pending e-mails so that I could call while driving. As I said earlier, the area is somewhat rural with ten to sixty minutes between stops so I knew I would have the time to call and talk.
Today I had the pleasure of the company of:
- three different people in Idaho ( I wonder what is going on in Idaho )
- one real estate professional in Hawaii
- one ex-military newbie in Tampa Florida
- a retired couple in Vermont
- a landscape company owner in Massachusettes
- a young couple in Texas
All of these people had contacted us by e-mail or phone and had questions, wanted advice, wanted to confirm suspicions, and so forth. I have a lot of inquiries from my various web sites and through our many business contacts.  Vickie and I quit counting the number of people we have helped start a new field services business. I remember our last count was forty and that was more than two years ago.
I really enjoyed talking with all the folks and I hope they are now pointed in the right direction. We exchanged ideas and plans and generally just enjoyed each others company for a while discussing common interest – the field services business.
I admit it – I enjoy this business and I enjoy the freedom it allows. To sum up my day:
- I had the opportunity to meet or help at least eight people today
- I had a near perfect contact ratio
- I was around my preferred water environment all day
- I bought a fried chicken box lunch and set at a bay-side park to eat and watch the ship traffic
Tell me now. How can I do better than this? Then I get home and reality hits me in the face! Again, I wish all of the old posts were here but since they are not I will try to briefly hit the highpoints of an ongoing scenario that was posted previously. It is so absurdly stupid I almost think the company is playing head games with us – no one can really be this confused! Here goes!
- several months ago we reported a property vacant
- the company sent property preservation company to secure property – they reported it as occupied
- we re-checked property. It is vacant. Neighbor said she saw property preservation people talking with painters.
- we submitted neighbor’s affadavit and neighbor’s phone number for company to call for verification
- company penalizes (stole) $35 from us and called it an “administrative penalty“
- we protest and offer additional proof of our claim – neighbor testimony, pictures, etc
- no response from company for months
- notice today of another administrative penalty because property is vacant and we reported it as occupied ???  ???  ???
What do you think? Are they really that stupid? Can’t be. I think it’s a game. We’re tired of playing though. Tomorrow I’ll bring you up to date on changes and enhancements to some of the other sites. Gotta go empty the trash
